Tower House was formed by a group of friends who’ve had an ongoing campaign, together, for over a decade. Collectively, we have over 60 years of role-playing experience. We began gaming in 1982, with the earliest editions of handbooks, manuals and game-master guides. We pay homage to role-playing’s origins—the grit, the complexity, its grounding in history, wargaming and the Sci-fi/fantasy of the time.
The Medieval “tower house” was a stone structure (smaller than the sprawling castles popularized in fantasy lore) built for both defensive and habitation purposes. Tower houses dotted the landscapes of Europe, serving as strongholds as well as aristocratic residences around which castle towns were formed. In role-play gaming, the tower house is the starting point for creating an authentic Medieval fantasy world.
Our name—“Tower House”—emphasizes our unique, miniature-terrain-and-modeling system. We don’t just sell prefabricated structures. We produce meticulously engineered building blocks that you can arrange to create the world that you envision.
Behind the Lore
Tower House strives for a historic feel. Our game master, Brian (affectionately, “Brian the Builder”), has a degree in mechanical engineering. When he’s not running our campaign, he’s running a processing plant. Brian began applying his engineering skills to our home game — creating realistic terrain, buildings and structures. His craftsmanship evolved into something truly unique and stunning — beautiful, to scale, models that were somehow also simple, easy to use and multifunctional. The structures worked seamlessly within our world and actually facilitated — rather than confined —our game play. We were so blown away we felt compelled to share Brian’s vision with the gaming community.
What Sets Us Apart
Most commercial role-playing terrain and modeling looks unrealistic, like Hansel & Gretel huts, and isn’t multifunctional. You can combine and stack, but you’re stuck working around the manufacturers’ specific sizes and limited configurations.
Our models are different. We’ve spent countless hours examining medieval architecture and structures— things like machicolations, lintels, hoardings, and batter, plinth or splay — to emulate these real-life structures.
Celebrating YOU
You’ll love interacting with our meticulously engineered game boards, modeling and terrain. No doubt, Tower House will take your home game to the next level!
